Unit I
Swedish Massage In addition to technique and theory, this course focuses on the development of efficient body mechanics and practitioner self-care. Medical indications, contraindications and the therapeutic value of massage for stress reduction and relaxation are discussed.
Anatomy and Physiology I concentrates on the muscular, skeletal, and integumentary systems of the body. Students are introduced to the major muscle groups. The course also provides an overview of all the systems in the body.
Unit II
Reflexology It utilizes various techniques including acupressure points, Trigger Point work and reflexes zones. The course teaches applications of the pressure on reflexes zones, related areas of the massage and sequences for each area of the body.
Anatomy and Physiology II continues with an in-depth study of the systems of the body. Unit II concentrates on the central nervous, cardiovascular, and lymphatic systems. The course also introduces the use of Anatomy and Physiology in clinical evaluations.
Introductory Aromatherapy Massage covers massage techniques including lymphatic drainage and acupressure techniques along with the properties of essential oils. Students are exposed to new techniques, and trained in understanding and appropriate use, application and correct execution of essential oils. A pre-event and post-event sequence is also taught.
Discovering Aromatherapy This class will give you the information you need to have a basic understanding of how aromatherapy works and the practical application for yourself and your clients.
Evaluation Standards are used to ensure readiness and appropriate skill level to continue with training. Students are evaluated at the completion of Unit II on all material covered to date. Hands-on ability and knowledge of theory and application are considered on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis.
Unit III
Body Scrubs / Body Wraps covers the third major skill block in skin therapy. The course introduces the use of different scrubs and wraps to treat the body skin. Additional energetic disciplines, including Healing Touch and Therapeutic Touch are incorporated into the classes. Special interest is on techniques to decrease pigmentation and dark patches of the skin.
Anatomy and Physiology III completes the in-depth study of the structure and function of the body. Unit III concentrates on the respiratory, endocrine, and digestive systems with a comprehensive review of all body systems.
Facial teaches the techniques encourage healing, hydration and resurfacing of the skin, where hands-on techniques are used to reduce tension in the back, neck, head, and arms. These techniques improves brightness, hydration and reduce fine line, pigmentation of skin.
Nutrition discusses the biochemistry of nutrition, with a focus on the effects of foods, vitamins, and minerals on both the body and mind. Guidelines for nutritional planning and dietary alternatives are also discussed.
Evaluation Standards prior to graduation include a comprehensive written and practical evaluation of all course material presented in the Professional Certification Program. Students are scored on knowledge of theory, application, integration of techniques and practical ability.
