Historically, Ayurveda is the world’s most ancient and original system of health care. It is the science of life aims at preserving health in its complete sense, thereby helping us to derive maximum potential from one’s inner self and is recognized by the World Health Organization as an effective, traditional medical science.
Ayurveda is a science of life based on the Vedas, the Divine Hindu books of knowledge and wisdom. More than five thousand years old, Ayurveda is perhaps the most complete system of living, not only medicine, but also philosophy, psychology, lifestyle, and health.
Ayurveda is based on the idea that the universe is composed of five basic elements. The five elements known as the Pancha Mahabhutas combine to form the three vital energies, the Tri - Doshas. The mix of these Doshas in each of us, an inherited trait, determines our physical constitution, called Prakruti or Individual Constitution.
In addition to the three Doshas, three types of psychic energies affect each of us. These are the Gunas
The most basic idea of Ayurveda is the concept of balance. We are healthy and happy when our Doshas and our Gunas are properly balanced. Most disease results from an imbalance of our doshas.
The balanced body then heals itself. In essence, Ayurveda is a system that uses the body's own defenses to restore and maintain health and happiness.
Panchakarma ChikitsaThis five-fold purification therapy aims at correcting the imbalance of the body’s Doshas or bio energies (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) as well as mind’s Doshas (Rajas and Tamas) in order to maintain their inherent equilibrium and Ama, which forms as a result.
